Principal Engineer

My client is an industry leader of purpose-built machinery (Capital Equipment) in the Manufacturing sector. They have continued to grow and have a strong combination of supplying their machines to various industries including Aerospace and Pharmaceutical. They are looking for a Principal Engineer to join their site in Coventry to oversee small and large projects from the design and technical perspective, for products and tenders – which includes developing processes, control philosophies of the machines and standardisation of products made. The successful candidate for the Principal Engineer role at my client’s site in Coventry will fulfil the following responsibilities – Projects based responsibilities - · Translate the businesses quotations into technical specifications · Project correspondence between all associated bodies · Preparing invitations to tender that satisfy the requirements of the project · Manage tasks within a project to include raising purchase requisitions, producing technical specifications for large purchase items · To attend site meetings with clients, builders, suppliers, sub-contractors etc. · Resource planning in conjunction with Production and Operations · Manage engineering sub-contractors/consultancy resource to achieve project goals · Author Operations and Maintenance manuals for products and equipment produced · Arrange for necessary system commissioning and project sign off · Identify standards and regulations applicable to all product ranges, ensuring the business complies with all statutory requirements · Manage updates to standards and regulations and inform the business of any new legislation that will have an impact – short term and long term Design / Technical · Create concept 3D design models · Support production of CAD detail drawings and sub-assembly drawings necessary for projects · Support production of CAD detail drawings necessary for sales and marketing · Develop design calculations to aid product standardisation · Support production of General Arrangement drawings using Inventor · Use the business configuration system to generate and maintain drawings as applicable To be considered for the Principal Engineer role the candidate must present evidence of the following – · A track record of using inventor to design purpose-built machinery · A track record as a Lead or Senior Design Engineer who has lead projects for machinery being designed, built and installed · Proven working knowledge of pneumatic design process – PNID – process and instruments diagram - FDS – functional design spec · A track record of controlling the design philosophies for purpose-built machinery, capital equipment or similar products/equipment. · The capability to deliver technical translation for various stakeholders during the commercial onset of a tender or project · If you have designed and led projects for Machines that hold chemicals this will be a distinct advantage.
