Overview
Early Years Practitioner Wee Gems Nursery is an Award-Winning Childcare centre with locations in Armadale, Broxburn, Livingston West Lothian and Corstorphine Edinburgh. We are seeking to employ an Early Years Practitioner to join us in our Edinburgh Nursery. Skills and Qualities Child-care qualification. Excellent communication skills. Be a reliable member of a team and work with flexibility. Work with an ethos of respect and professionalism with colleagues, stakeholders and service users. Understand that each child is an individual and have a sound knowledge of childcare and child development. To have sound knowledge of SSSC Codes of Conduct. Responsibilities Uphold and adhere to SSSC codes of conduct. Ensure staff have a joint responsibility to adhere to SSSC codes of conduct and company policies. Take responsibility for each child’s progress, report on achievements and complete child development profiles on a weekly basis. Develop positive relationships with parents/guardians, other staff and outside agencies. Supervise the children indoors and outdoors at all times. Following systems are in place and highlight any concerns. Ensure that the environments are inviting and resourced efficiently Ensure that planning is child-centered, appropriate and when required, spontaneous. Maintain a stimulating and attractive nursery environment. Participate in nursery events such as parents evening, play and stay, focus groups and community events. Take responsibility for nursery resources. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required. Participate in all self-development activities, including appraisals. Undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout the nursery. Ensure the general cleanliness of the children at all times. Be familiar with all emergency and security procedures. Be familiar with and adhere to all company policies and procedures. Be aware and act upon children’s individual needs and requirements using the Wee Gems key worker policy. Develop and deliver age and stage appropriate activities that will progress children’s learning. Ensure that all practice is inclusive to all the children attending Wee Gems. Ensure you are a reflective practitioner to further evolve the practice you display. The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution to the Nursery. You will be mature and focused on delivering excellent standards of care with a natural ability to work as part of a team and individually.
