Overview
Hestia is London’s largest provider of services to women affected by Domestic Abuse. We are Hestia, a vibrant charity that has been supporting and empowering vulnerable adults and children since 1970. This year will mark our 50th anniversary so it is an exciting time to join us Hestia is recruiting for an experienced Area Manager for our Domestic Abuse Services. This will include direct management of a number of Team and Service Managers of the above service types. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join Hestia’s Senior Operational Team, working alongside other experienced Managers who deliver a range of other services including mental health, anti-human trafficking, day services, young people’s services and offender services. Experience of managing local project and service managers and of managing the development and delivery of care, housing, support, health and community engagement services. An understanding of the strategic environment in which care and support services are being delivered and the implications for the organisation. Demonstrable experience of contract management and the management of complex budgets and an understanding of the legislation and good practice underpinning the robust delivery of care, health, support and community engagement services. Working knowledge of the legal framework and best practice for the protection of vulnerable adults and children and an understanding of the importance of an outcomes focused approach to the development and delivery of care, support and preventative services. Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately. Ability and experience to transform services that are not meeting local or organisational KPI’s and extensive knowledge and good practise in supporting women and children, and experience in all types of all forms VAWG Good oral, written, administration and IT communication skills Ability to manage a range of staff with varied skills sets delivering a range of services and the ability to work on own initiative within policy and procedure Ability to manage diverse and conflicting demands of the post Ability to implement robust improvement plans for poor performing services and staff. Ability to use IT to support both scrutiny and delivery of work, including using new systems. Ability to reach a wide audience to influence responses to DA services at Local and Central level. This includes victims of modern slavery, women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, young care leavers and older people. From giving someone a home, to helping them to get the right mental health support, we support people at the moment of crisis and enable them to build a life beyond crisis. We are supported by more than 460 volunteers who provide specialist skills such as art therapy yoga, IT, gardening, cooking as well as befriending and fundraising.
