Overview

Role - Payroll and Pensions officer Location - Ashford Job Type - Perm, full time Salary - £24,000 Nurseplus are looking for a Payroll and Pensions Officer to support the Payroll department in delivering accurate and timely wage payments to workers and staff. They will be responsible for processing pay and absence information, updating internal spreadsheets and payroll systems, and running reports. In addition, the Payroll and Pensions Officer will coordinate the administration of the company pension schemes. What is the job? Payroll Assisting the payroll department with processing the weekly payroll of over 3,000 workers Inputting new starters and changes to personal details on the computerized payroll system Processing holiday pay requests and expenses Importing pay and charge data files Processing new tax codes, student loans and attachment of earnings orders Calculating Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) Making BACS and same-day payments Processing leavers and issuing P45s Submitting Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC Exporting and creating reports for Finance and Operations teams Responding to third-party correspondence including government bodies and solicitors Answering queries relating to pay by email and phone Supporting year-end processes including P60 production Any other payroll-related tasks that are not mentioned above Pensions Coordinating the administration of the Company pension schemes Acting as a subject matter expert in auto-enrolment Answering queries relating to pensions by email and phone Reconciling contributions between the pension portals and the payroll systems Handling any issues identified with files uploaded to the pension portals Making appropriate recommendations to improve current pension procedures Ensuring compliance with current pension legislation Any other pension-related tasks that are not mentioned above Skills/Experience Solid understanding of auto-enrolment and pensions administration essential (Nest experience preferred) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for pension reconciliations essential Minimum 1 year’s proven payroll administration experience essential Previous administration experience in a confidential environment essential Good verbal and written communication skills essential Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with a strong eye to detail A GCSE in Mathematics and English preferred A recognised payroll and / or pensions qualification desirable Must be able to work as part of a team and autonomously and manage own workload Benefits of working for Nurseplus Basic salary of £24,000 Company healthcare scheme High street discounts 20 Days 8 public holidays (increasing year on year) Incentive trips Company well-being programme
