At this exciting stage in their development, this long established and highly profitable business has recently made a major investment in two state of the art laser tube profiling machines. The machines are due for delivery later this year and an opportunity now exists for a Laser Production Manager, to take responsibility for the management of a new team responsible for the successful implementation, installation, set up and operation of the company’s laser processing and profiling facility.The facility will complement the company’s existing operation and will integrate fully in to the overarching operations strategy. This exciting role is focused on the setting up of a new production unit within an existing business and you will be expected to take 'a hands’ on approach to the operation of the laser profiling machines within a fast moving production and warehousing operation. The role will require you to effectively manage initially a small team consisting of Machine Operators, which is expected to grow significantly as the operation becomes more established.The position exists to ensure that orders are processed to customer requirements in a timely and efficient manner.This management / supervisory role will require you to continuously improve the efficiency of the processing of orders whilst working in harmony with the rest of the operations team. Essentially the company is looking for a high energy team leader who ideally has experience of working in the steel industry and has had some exposure working with laser profiling machines.IT literate with an ability to read technical engineering drawings, this supervisory role will require a good knowledge of warehousing systems and crane & forklift truck operations. As this is a start-up operation you will be the first management appointment to the team and as the operation grows will also be involved in training and mentoring the team and future recruits.An understanding of continuous improvement processes and the ability to bring new ideas into the business, to develop and enhance the processes and procedures will also be essential.
