Overview

Astute recruitment is business partnering exclusively with a market-leading organisation based in Northampton to recruit a newly created Credit Manager position. As the Credit Manager you will operate as the subject matter expert with full responsibility for the company’s performance as well as managing, leading and developing the credit control team. The current team works well together but always strive to do more, so a big part of your role will be to set KPIs and collection targets and reviewing overall performance. Job Description: Managing a Credit Control function on a day-to-day basis Ensuring focus is maintained in key areas including cash collection and debtor days Ensure all collection activities are recorded and that cash collection is maximised Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled to any supporting documentary evidence, with any variances investigated and resolved promptly ensuring there is no slippage during a time of significant change Ensure cash received is posted in a timely basis Establish and review credit and collection policies and manage the full cycle of credit including the review of credit applications, credit limits including risk analysis, new account set ups and account closures Input to contract negotiations as appropriate with procurement and suppliers, such as debt collection agencies and credit information providers Maintaining and improving departmental processes and reporting, whilst building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external customers Keep abreast of the latest changes in the credit management world through contact with external credit managers, credit circles and credit forums Summary: Previous Credit Control Managerial experience is essential Studying / Studied CICM Level 5 Experience liaising with external risk agencies and dealing with legal proceedings Key Skills and Attributes: Strong leadership skill as a Credit Control Manager / Team Leader, or relevant line management experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Confident, articulate and adept in obtaining and, where necessary challenging, information in order to progress processing and meet targets A robust approach to relationships and interactions with colleagues Strong organisational skills and ability to work to tight deadlines Strong process and financial control discipline to strengthen and develop the team Comfortable working cross-functionally in areas outside own area of expertise Able to influence and interact with senior management within the organisation Intermediate Excel skills
