Overview

We are recruiting for a temporary Assistant Management Accountant this will be for 2-3 months at the moment. The role is paying £16.02 per hour. Our client is a museum based in Central London. Please note the important elements are Conversant with retail environment Comfortable with differing vat rates and vat journals Comfortable with retail/charity environment Included in the Job Spec The Museum is a diverse organisation primarily funded by Government grant-in-aid. Other income generating activities include ticketed exhibitions, Science research and consultancy, retail and catering. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant and supporting the team and Head of Finance in ensuring a high level of service to internal and external users of the Finance Department, primarily in terms of information provision. Provide forward looking, accurate and relevant management information to our customers, through the provision of relevant monthly reports and KPI's. Main point of contact for Corporate Services and payroll. Essential criteria: A-level or equivalent Studying towards a accountancy qualification e.g. ACCA or CIMA 2 years' experience in a management accounts function, working with stakeholders. Intermediate/Advanced MS Excel knowledge and experience. Control account reconciliations experience to advanced level. Excellent analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Flexibility with working hours where necessary. Accounting package experience Desirable criteria: BA (hons) Accounting or similar qualification. Access Dimensions and FocalPoint experience. Experience in analysing and documenting procedures. Experience in multiple commercial sectors e.g. retail, consultancy and publishing. Other MS Office software knowledge and experience (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) VBA/Macro skills. Personal Qualities: Flexibility and ability to manage own workload to meet strict deadlines Excellent written and oral communication skills Commitment to 'customer satisfaction' Team Player Pro-Active Good at problem solving Commitment to the Museum and its values General To provide support to the Senior Management Accountant and Head of Finance in ensuring a high level of service to internal and external users of the Finance Department in terms of information provision. Provide forward looking, accurate and relevant management information to our customers, through the provision of relevant monthly reports and KPI's. Understand end to end business activity within departments that impact accounting, where necessary highlighting any weaknesses in controls or processes and make improvements in partnership with departments. Contribute to the development of finance systems/processes to improve efficiency. Contribute to the production of annual budgeting and forecasting process as required. Preparation of Ad-hoc reports, analyses, and detailed transaction reports as required for departments. Pro-active review of accounts, and investigation and resolution of queries from budget holders. Provide guidance and best practice to simplify interfaces with finance. Ensure data entry is "right first time". Eliminate non value adding activities. Raising / checking of journals. Reconciling Payroll data and liaising with Human Resources to ensure records are accurate. Daily retail reports and reconciliations. Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
