Lead Professional for Sensory Impairment and Physical and Medical Needs Salary: £37,654 - £40,490 plus eligibility for 2 SEN points and TLR (subject to review every 2 years) Ref : CS01804 Permanent Full Time Trowbridge Summary We are seeking to appoint an experienced, innovative and dynamic Lead Professional who will lead the Sensory Impairment, Medical and Physical Needs team in supporting the council’s SEND strategy and commitment to be maximising opportunities for mainstream inclusion of children and young people with sensory and/or physical and medical needs in their schools and communities. LIVE ∙WORK∙ ENGAGE About the role The team is part of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Service which supports children and young people from the ages of 0 to 25 years. The service consists of advisory teachers, educational psychologists, specialist teaching and support assistants, education officers and SEND lead workers. We maintain close links with the children’s disability team, and school effectiveness. A key aspect of the role is to lead on the provision of advice and support to schools, pre-school settings and parents for pupils with a sensory impairment and physical disability, and under the direction of the SEN Inclusion Manager, to be responsible for the supervision and professional leadership of the staff supporting pupils with sensory and physical disability. About you You will have qualified teacher status with the mandatory qualification in teaching either hearing or visually impaired pupils, or extensive experience in managing physical and medical needs. Recent leadership experience in the field of sensory impairment – preferably as a head of a sensory service or senior teacher or extensive experience of working as an advisory teacher for hearing or visual Impairment, or physical & medical needs.
