Overview

We are now have a very exciting opportunity for a Commercial Freight Branch Manager in Manchester, near Manchester Airport. Your role will involve the commercial development of the branch, managing a freight forwarding team in Air and Sea freight with responsibility for both operations and sales personnel . Your role will involve managing and supporting a team of 8 freight operations and Sales staff covering a sea and air freight import and export operation. You and your team will get involved with the full air and sea imports and exports freight forwarding operations cycle and sale development Your main focus will be to grow and drive the business forward so a commercial freight background is essential quality for applying candidates. Achieving operational targets in line with budgetary constraints. You will get involved with the recruitment, training, motivation, development and management of all personnel to achieve total customer focus. Negotiating contract buy rates on a local basis with major ocean and airline carriers both for import and exports. Ensuring the optimal use of resources, both internal and external maximising cost effectiveness and maintaining service levels while continually seeking alternative methods to improve service levels. In order to apply for this role, you will have a proven track record in Air & Sea freight operations this is essential . You will have a led and managed a freight forwarding team and be commercially driven with ideally a forwarding relevant trade qualification desirable. You will be extremely customer focused with the ability to problem solve and make decisions in the best interest of the business and have the ability to remain focused in a pressurised work environment. You will have strong freight management experience with experience of setting KPI's, working to budgets with good financial acumen. Strong problem solving, planning and organisational skills with the ability to multi task whilst working to tight deadlines. Be a hands-on team player and lead from the front with the right insight to motivate others and encourage change where necessary with excellent interpersonal & administration skills with strong attention to detail. Be computer literate with a strong level of I.T. skills.
