Overview

Lead Speech and Language Therapist – Band 7 Part Time – 3 days per week (flexible) To oversee, coordinate and develop the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) department within this specialist Neurorehabilitation service. To work as part of the SLT team working within this setting, providing a high standard of assessment, treatment, and advice for patients with acquired neurological conditions and disabilities across various pathways including acute neurorehabilitation, neurobehavioral management and rehabilitation, complex care, and assisted independent living. The post holder will report directly to the Head of Therapies, and work collaboratively within the integrated multidisciplinary teams to offer a comprehensive, person-centred service. The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership to a team of qualified members of staff, as part of the wider therapy team and Interdisciplinary Team.In addition, the Lead will be assisting in developing the teams and the service delivery models; and will contribute to the progress of this service during a period of development and change.This will require a flexible approach to working, a commitment to team leadership and development, and a genuine passion to deliver neurorehabilitation of the highest calibre. You will need: To be competent in managing a SLT tracheostomy caseload, and contributing to tracheostomy multidisciplinary management To be highly skilled in dysphagia therapy and management An understanding of NHS England/CCG commissioning arrangements and developments Experience of team leadership and working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team So about you …. ideally, we would like: Experience in the whole range of communication difficulties effecting people with acquired brain injury Knowledge of evidence-based practice, best practice guidelines, assessment tools and outcome measures Knowledge of legislation that affects area of work including standards of professional practice, and legal frameworks supporting patients And now the essentials: Be a therapist with current HCPC and RCSLT registration Evidence of experience in neurological rehab/complex care At least 5 years’ experience in health or social care setting If you are interested in this exciting opportunity don’t hesitate to contact us and ask for a full job description.
