Overview

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION We are seeking a Team Leader to lead and support a Care Service that supports young people under the care of Social Services and adults with varying mental health and learning disability needs in supported housing. The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day to day management of the designated service, under the direction of the Social Care Manager and Project Manager. You will work within a team to recruit, supervise and grow an effective and efficient service for our clients ensuring that service user’s requirements are met whilst maintaining compliance of care and company policies and procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES · To ensure consistent application of companies’ policies, procedures and approved practice and to promote the aims of the Company · Take the lead to help Support Workers understand their responsibilities and by doing so ensure that safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led support and care is delivered at all times. · To ensure the provision of high-quality care to Service Users in our homes. · To provide induction training and shadowing for new Support Workers in line with Company standards and policies. · To ensure that all Support workers are capable and confident to carry out their roles by identifying development and training needs · To carry out regular checks at the homes during day shifts and evening shifts to give direct supervision to staff whilst working and ensuring homes are maintained · To maintain the integrity and accuracy of all data stored ensuring all records are correctly recorded and information is kept up to date at all times. · Encourage and assist service users to achieve optimum independence, with due regard for their privacy, confidentiality, dignity, health, safety, welfare, living environment, personal choice, lifestyle, nutrition, hydration, independence, self-esteem, physical comfort and social and emotional needs; · To reflect on practice, perform audit and recommend change re development of the service · To be aware of changing support needs and adapt accordingly. · Develop warm and trusting relationships with Uniq service users to encourage them to express their needs, views and concerns. · Communicating effectively with health care professionals, service agencies and relations of clients. · Taking clients to appointments, shopping trips, leisure activities as and when required. · Assess health and safety risks and take appropriate action to manage risks · Ensure that work equipment is safe and properly used · Remain vigilant to health and safety hazards and take appropriate action where these pose a risk to employees, service users or others Please note that your role will involve you working over separate locations around the Harrow area, all within a 3-mile radius. · To provide a counselling and therapy service for residents which focuses on examining issues such as substance abuse, anger management, social anxiety, self-image etc and helping residents define goals, plan action and help improve their mental health · To create and maintain a stimulating and developing activity programme to enhance quality of life for each resident within the homes and activities that are reflective of their interests. · Organise and carry out training and life skills for clients. · Any undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required by Management Your existing experience of at least one year in a similar role, will be enhanced with on-the-job training and supported access to external courses where appropriate. · Fluent English (both written and spoken) · Good communication and interpersonal skills · Team player · Excellent telephone manner · Good attention to detail · Ability to work under pressure · Ability to multi-task · Good organisational skills · Ability to work to deadlines and take direction · Ability to prioritise workload effectively · Good and effective leadership skills · IT literate
