Overview
We are currently looking for a Production supervisor with welding and profile experience, based at our Westok site in Leeds. Kloeckner Metals UK is the largest mill independent multi metal stockholder & distributor in the UK and Ireland, and a key member of the Kloeckner Company & Co. group, the largest producer independent distributor of steel and metal products and one of the leading steel service centre companies in the European and American markets combined. working hours are rotating nights and days shifts, with shift allowance The Role is to:- Lead all aspects of a Production shift effectively whilst maintaining Safety, Quality, Service, Cost & Productivity performance to ensure all targets are met. Ensure that the highest standards of Safety, Productivity & Discipline are maintained throughout the shift pattern. Ensure the safe & efficient shift by shift operation of the production team. Ensure that the shifts are effectively managed within the framework of KMUK policies & procedures; particularly relating to Health & Safety, training, time keeping, absence control, discipline & compliance. Refer any issues to the Operations Manager promptly. Ensure that shifts follow all applicable quality procedures. Monitor efficiency of shift & drives performance improvement. Ensure the Ten Commandments activities are fully supported by the team. In particular maintaining housekeeping, 5S standards, ensuring TPM sessions take place, & the correct identification of product & storage locations. Ensure customer requirements are satisfied by making sure that activities are performed correctly & on time. Monitor training requirements of shift & ensures that expiry dates are observed. Ensure highest standards are maintained at all time on the shift Key Responsibilities: Drives continuous improvement activities to increase shifts performance, including Visual Management, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, SMED, TPM and 7 Wastes. To ensure that the processes and practices in the area conform to all EHS requirements & that performance is monitored & activities progressed to improve that performance Ensure that the team maintains a high level of productivity. Ensure that the Production team achieve the output targets on a shift by shift, day by day basis. Ensure that the quality standards are set and maintained. Monitors performance according to the agreed standards. Clearly communicates the shift / daily targets to the team using Team Boards (SQCDP). Communicate with internal departments to ensure the highest levels of end customer service are achieved. Ensure all preparations are made to enable the following shift to perform at the highest level. Ensure that costs are tightly controlled & waste is minimised. Ensure that shift targets are achieved & exceeded. Escalate issues / problems in a timely manner and assist (where appropriate) in resolving issues with close communication with internal departments / functions.
