Job Title: Buyer Location: Newton Aycliffe DL5 6ZE Contract Type: Full Time / Permanent Package: £40k to £50k Salary dependent on experience Car Background As one of the North East’s fastest-growing luxury housebuilders, our client is currently seeking to appoint a talented and experienced Buyer to support ambitious plans to grow and expand their business. Based at offices in Newton Aycliffe, the post-holder will provide procurement support services to our client’s operational teams across sites around the County Durham and Tees Valley area. Within the role, you will be a part of a friendly and growing team, specialising in high-quality residential developments. The role will involve working collaboratively with the Managing Director and Quantity Surveyor to manage and improve supplier performance in relation to quality, cost and delivery associated with building materials and components. The Role In the course of carrying out this role the post holder will: Develop and deliver a Procurement action plan for the business. Develop and implement appropriate Procurement Policies & Procedures within the business. Support operational teams with procurement requirements for all build projects. Manage the tender process for subcontract packages. Ensure that there is a strong focus on savings, rebates and compliance within procurement processes. Work closely with the Accounts function to develop a costs library and to provide accurate reporting data on materials spend. Review and sign-off of tenders in line with the signature protocol. Manage the supplier approvals status through performance evaluation and supplier management meetings. Monitor and report on supplier performance. Develop close relationships with Key Suppliers / Sub-contractors at a management level. Build and foster mutually beneficial relationships within our existing supplier base. Identify, qualify, and on-board new suppliers. The Candidate The ideal candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate: Minimum of 3 years Procurement experience specifically gained within either the residential property, construction or civil engineering sectors. Professional certification in Purchasing and / or Inventory Management (e.g. CIPS). Minimum of 5 years relevant post-qualification experience. Ability to interpret, analyse, and negotiate contractual cost elements. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the business and supply base. Experience of relationship building/stakeholder management. IT literate, competent user of Microsoft Office packages and databases.
