Overview

My client is a dynamic, customer focused provider of specialist transport services to the airfreight industry. Established in 2000, they have built a reputation for offering reliable, time-sensitive and next day deliveries at competitive prices. The Role of Assistant Transport Manager has a varied remit in ensuring the continuation of their enviable standard of service. The successful candidate will be ambitious, can manage change and embrace flexibility in this combination of an office-based and hands-on role. The job description includes, but is not limited to: Manage and report on all costs relating to vehicle hire and repairs Liaise with insurers relating to any incidents / accidents Perform random vehicle inspections and take corrective action where required Examine driver tachograph records, and retrain where necessary Carry out inductions with new drivers, including initial driver assessments, to include PDA and paperwork instruction Check vehicles for damage and carry out investigations Organise breakdown repairs Arrange vehicle maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule Be flexible in working hours to be in contact with the various shifts, including nights Manage our in-house mechanic To be named on the company Operator License as required Ensure the Company is compliant with all legal requirements as per Operator Licence Qualifications and Education requirements HGV License CE Management CPC The successful candidate will have excellent mechanical knowledge as well as extensive experience in a similar role. The core hours of work will be 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday. Some flexibility may be required occasionally as the operation runs 24 hours.
