Overview

Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting for an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join a Front Line Children in Need team based in South London. The successful candidate must have Knowledge of Child Protection legislation and understanding of child protection issues and substitute care. The main purpose of this role will be to provide effective child protection social work intervention to children from birth to 18 years. We're looking for social workers who can provide comprehensive services to users ensuring actions, assessments and care plans are in place to promote the longer-term safety and well-being of children and young people. Main Duties: You will effectively plan services to meet the needs of children and families with focused intervention, clarity of purpose and identified outcomes within a clear timescale You will be responsible for managing caseloads and the safeguarding of children in need, children looked after, children subject to child protection and in the court arena You will effectively plan services to meet the needs of children and families with focused intervention, clarity of purpose and identified outcomes within a clear timescale Carry out assessments and care plans to promote the longer-term safety and well-being of children and young people You will need to attend court proceedings and be prepared to provide evidence Ensure all work is recorded and records are kept updated Essential Skills & experience needed: Good communication skills - listening, understanding, ability to express self to people from a range of backgrounds and cultures and ability to negotiate with service users, relatives and providers Able to engage and develop effective professional relationships with other professionals and organisations for the benefit of individual children and families in assessment, care planning and delivery Able to decide on day to day case management activities e.g. arrange and conduct meetings. Able to make sound professional judgments Able to develop, implement and review evidence-based multi-agency care plans which focus on and successfully deliver safety and well-being outcomes for children Working in a statutory setting with children and making professional judgments Understand philosophies, professional social work issues and legal frameworks underpinning specific client groups and social services statutory duty and role in the wider community Understand Best Value principals and need for resource constraints You must have exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods with internal and external colleagues You will possess a high level knowledge of child care legislation including the Children Act 1989, Every Child Matters, Change for Children and associated guidance and regulations Job Requirements: An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in Children Services All applicants need to be social work qualified with current SWE registration This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89933205
