Department: Operations Hours: 37.5 hours per week / On call rota Reports to: Field Engineering Manager Job Purpose: In addition to the Job Objectives as set out in the Roles and Responsibilities Matrix, The Field Engineering Trainee will provide a supporting role to the Field Engineering teams, gaining best in class engineering infrastructure and technical skills across multiple technologies. Principle Accountabilities / Objectives: He/she is responsible for effective duties as set out in the below chart. Provides additional support to ensure engineering teams deliver on time, in budget and quality. He/she will also work towards gaining technical competence and adhere to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) standards. Main Responsibilities: A highly motivated individual with a previous background in Telecoms (not essential) who can support and assist the Field Engineering Team in the following areas: Manual labour in supporting Telecoms Installers and Engineers. Provide First Line Maintenance On-Call support for Indigo Telecom Group to the current customer base. Maintenance support is provided 24/7, 365 days a year therefore a flexible approach to the role, with the ability to adapt and react to business needs is essential. Respond to all interventions in a timely manner, ensuring as reasonably possible that all SLA’s are met with documentation completed & submitted. Qualified and experienced in physically building Telecoms Infrastructure services from plans and to Quality requirements. An entry level Telecoms Commissioner who can provide services defined in [A3] plus is skilled and competent in providing basic standalone product commissioning to a level of "green light and connectivity". SC Clearance/BS7858 Clearance/Equivalent Fault Finding. Ability to receive instructions (written and/or verbal) from NOC (Indigo and/or customer) to resolve outstanding issues. Fibre and cable pulling, dressing and secure of same Fibre and Cable labelling Copper Cable termination including Cat "x" and E1 terminations Continuity, test and measurement of cable and fibre runs Electrical connectivity of 240v AC and up to 48v DC to distribution panels (no power up until certification) Controls and Manages Risk Assessment and Method Statement documentation Completes Site Induction requirements Compliant with Lone Working policies Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with internal Indigo Telecom and external sub-contractor organisations Comply with company & local standards, procedures & protocols with specific responsibility for performance meeting engineering key performance indicators Ensure Health & Safety and Engineering Quality standards are maintained within the business at all times. Represent Indigo Telecom Group in a professional manner at all times, both externally and internally and support the adoption of their corporate culture. Be responsible for the production of accurate, high quality project documentation Carry out tasks autonomously under the general direction of the Project Manager while providing feedback as required by the Project Manager Maintain familiarity with all Quality Systems and ensure that all work is completed in compliance with the relevant procedures Requires strong technical focus with ability to provide some level of personal man management Ability to manage own workload and meet all SLA's as required Works to strict and demanding timelines Tries to fix problems not necessarily under ones control by providing suitable solutions Possibility of extended hours of working and periods away from home Availability at short notice including evenings and weekends. Ability to demonstrate flexibility to meet business requirements. Carry out either FLM or deployment duties when the business requires. Complete other ad hoc duties as required. Additional Skill Set Requirements - Qualifications & Experience: Essential: Demonstrable “hands on” approach to learning new skills. Proven customer interface skills base on experience in similar environments. Report writing and procedural skills. Excellent standard of written and spoken English. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work on own initiative and deliver key objectives. Able to work under pressure. Ability to positively influence others. PC literate, especially Microsoft Office 365 suite.Experience of using Visio is essential. Willingness and ability to pick up new systems quickly. Self-motivated and able to work to own initiative. Lead by example; Has a positive and willing attitude to lead from the front. Ability to manage own workload and meet all SLAs as required.
