About the team: As a member of the Merchant Payments Development team you will be responsible for developing and supporting technical solutions to our clients’ payments needs. You will be working as part of a small team of experienced developers. Supporting the Development team are a team of project managers and a team of software testers. Most, but not all, of the team is based in FIS’s Birmingham, U.K. office. What you will be doing: Developing systems and system enhancements in line with detailed technical designs. Translating high-level designs into detailed technical designs suitable for use in the development and testing of the systems. Working within the parameters laid down by FIS quality procedures and standards. Liaising directly with clients. Working in a busy, ever changing environment with multiple clients. Working at times within a team but often autonomously without direct involvement of others. Reporting to the Merchant Payments Development Manager. Key responsibilities: Development in C/ProC of payment processing applications. Timely escalation of any risks and issues to the appropriate project manager and/or development manager. Production and maintenance of documentation relating to our payment applications. This will encompass both internal technical documentation and external, client-facing documentation describing their solution. Review of functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements. What you bring: At least 4 years commercial development experience, of which at least 2 years were using C or C++ on a UNIX platform. Experience using Oracle RDBMS. Full lifecycle experience, including design, development and deployment. Strong analytical and conceptual skills. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be confident in dealing directly with customers on business and technical topics. Motivation to work in the payments industry in role that can be client facing. UNIX/Linux command line (User level), SQL, Office software. Be willing and able to learn new skills on the job.
