The Project Manager (Environment) role: These are fantastic opportunities to work in a diverse team with people from a variety of backgrounds in civil & mechanical engineering, contaminated land, mining and construction. We're looking for Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers to assist in the delivery of a portfolio of varied mine water treatment projects, developing new and maintaining existing schemes. Many of these schemes are located in challenging environments, involve working with multiple stakeholders and will require innovative and efficient solutions. Responsibilities of our Project Manager (Environment): - Commission and project manage scoping, feasibility investigations to deliver a performance specification for a design and build contract to enable schemes to be implemented to prevent and reduce mine water pollution. - Commission and lead other projects e.g. efficiency improvements, scheme refurbishment, R&D as required. - Be responsible and accountable for the project budget from inception through to post commissioning for contracts with capital values of up to £5.0M, ensuring projects have agreed objectives and milestones and that they are managed to time and to cost. - Monitor actual and financial progress of each project and advise the Principal Programme Manager of any significant variances. - Promote “best practice” through learning from completed schemes and industry development. - Advise the Principal Contracts Manager during the Design/Build and Operations phase of the allocated treatment systems on technical issues. - Ensure effective communication with Managers on allocated projects to ensure issues are identified and resolved to ensure smooth transition into design and build and thereafter into post commissioning. - Commission services of consultants and contractors to ensure scheme progress and then manage and hold accountable for delivery. Performance management including KPI’s. - Challenge designs, concepts and reports. - Liaise with relevant third parties/stakeholders including local authorities, regulators, landowners and members of the public. - Make recommendations on expenditure above authorised limit including variation orders/compensation events arising. - Prepare and present reports on progress and outcomes of projects including monthly reports, financial management, investment board papers, business cases, MP letters and stakeholder letters.
