Overview

Java Engineer - City Centre Java Engineer required for a major Edinburgh organisation on an initial 6-month contract. We are recruiting for an experienced Programmer with strong full stack Java development skills to join a prestigious and progressive organisation in central Edinburgh. You will be joining a busy projects division, in a small team working on a variety of business-critical project across a wide variety of technology in an Agile environment. Main duties Analysis of business requirements and technical design for enhancement/build of internal systems. Development & maintenance of key software. Production of relevant documentation Structured unit testing of software Implementation of quality software, ensuring business readiness. Impact analysis for complex change requests and new projects Key technical skills Sound knowledge of system development techniques and best practice. Experience of the full software development lifecycle. J2EE, Open source frameworks (e.g. Struts, Hibernate), XML technologies. Unit testing tools & frameworks (e.g. JUnit, Selenium, Coverage tools), Experience of low-level software design with a good knowledge of UML, modelling tools and Design Patterns. Good problem solving and decision making skills. Good communication skills with both a technical and non-technical audience. Ability to work using different methodologies (End2End, Agile-like particularly TDD). Ability to cope with high-levels of pressure, involving high profile projects. Rate wise, we have between £400-450 per day VAT depending on experience and availability.
