Planning Enforcement Case Officer

Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Enforcement Case Officer within Housing & Planning at Thurrock Council. Contract – 3 month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis. Working hours – Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00 Rate of pay – £35 per hour This is negotiable depending on experience – please send over your CV with the required rate. About the role To ensure that all complaints and potential breaches of planning control are investigated and appropriate action taken in accordance with agreed policies and service standards. Organise and prepare draft statements and proofs of evidence in respect of appeals lodged against enforcement notices and where appropriate appear at the Council’s witness. Organise and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and contributors to ensure the service maximises the effectiveness and benefits of collaborative working. Maintain a sufficient level of knowledge and expertise of current planning and other legislation, government statements and guidance planning policies and standards case law, appeal decisions and best practice in relation to planning and enforcement matters Liaise with officers in other groups and services of the Council and with the police and other statutory bodies outside the council to ensure that the most effective action is taken to resolve breaches of planning control Provide information or advice to other sections of the Service, other council services, Council Members, the local MP, members of the public and outside bodies and organisations as appropriate. Draft letters and Notices and prepare reports, including Committee reports on enforcement cases for consideration by the team leader(s).
