Our children's home in Ipswich are recruiting for a highly motivated Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our friendly support team on a permanent basis. Duties will include supporting our young people in maintaining their physical health, mental health and overall wellbeing through monitoring, recording and reporting observations in these areas. The successful candidate will be expected to attend appointments in the community, LAC reviews, CPAs, professionals meetings and to liaise with the community team outside of meetings. Responsibilities will include being a named nurse to one or two young people and taking the lead in supporting key children with their health, safety and wellbeing. You will do this by working alongside keyworkers, developing and writing care plans, risk assessments, reports and having regular nursing one to one sessions. Typical shifts for a registered nurse are 08:00 - 23:00, 08:00 - 16:00, 09:00 - 17:00 and 15:00 - 23:00. The role of the nurse also includes taking the lead with administration of medication, responding to incidents of self-harm and first aid. Alongside this, nursing groups will be held and led by nurses. Nurses will be expected to educate the team with regards to mental and physical health. We are a home for children that require mental health assessment and intervention. We utilise the secure base model of care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and we have an experienced team inclusive of mental health nurses. Our home offers therapy and education on site and the overall focus of the home is to achieve positive outcomes for young people, we do this through multi agency working, personalised care planning and creating positive attachments. This placement will provide brilliant experience for understanding and working with mental health in a therapeutic environment. You will be working alongside an experienced team of support workers, nurses and therapists. This residential home is a unique setting. It is first of it's kind to provide support for young people with both challenging social backgrounds as well as mental health diagnosis requiring on going support. Candidates should be; Patient, sociable and empathetic, in order to establish good relationships with our young people based on confidence, trust, understanding and mutual respect Prepared to deal with challenging behaviour which may be exhibited by a young person at any time for any number of reasons.
