Overview

Reed Scientific are currently recruiting for a Chemistry technician for a material testing laboratory based in North east of England. If you are looking for a new position and committed to work within a company that values you as an employee please do get in touch Key responsibilities: Booking of work into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Preparing samples, prior to analysis, by finishing /polishing or by microwave dissolution Performing duties in accordance with Element’s internal quality system and health & safety procedures Undertaking chemical analysis of metal alloys using a wide variety of laboratory equipment including OES, XRF, gas techniques such as combustion & fusion. Other techniques are available on site such as ICP-OES and ICP-MS. Ensuring that equipment maintenance, routine calibrations and quality control checks are performed on time and in accordance with documented procedures Contributing to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the workplace by implementing agreed continuous improvement ideas Monitoring of laboratory consumables and ordering new consumables as required Maintaining high standards of housekeeping within the laboratory Person specification: Excellent attention to detail in all areas of work Drive for improvements and efficiencies Proactive and self-motivated Ability to work in teams under pressure Experience within a laboratory environment Experience working with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook Desirable skills: Knowledge of materials testing Qualification in Chemistry, Physics or related science subject Please do get in touch for more details, alternatively if you think that you will be successful in this job please apply
