Occupational Therapist East Sussex Band 6 or 7 considered Our client is a fast growing business and a leading provider of Healthcare Service solutions including Wheelchair Services. Working closely with NHS and Social Care Organisations providing a complete outsourced wheelchair service that significantly reduces costs, delivers better quality and an enhanced patient experience. We are currently looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist Band 6/7 to join the team at the East Sussex Wheelchair Service Centre based in Eastbourne. The Role: Work as an autonomous practitioner, prescribing wheelchairs, postural accessories and pressure relieving cushions to promote mobility, function and safety, seeking support from the clinical lead for the more complex cases. Undertaking holistic assessment of service users with a variety of physical, cognitive and/or learning disabilities. Many service users present with complex multi-pathologies which require a higher level of understanding of the impact of these conditions/disabilities. Assessing and prescribing the most suitable mobility equipment to meet the user’s holistic needs using "chair in the day" principles to achieve efficiency and effectiveness for our clients, maintaining productivity for the service. Handover wheelchair equipment, providing guidance and the correct level of training required by each service user and determining the review time frame for each client. Provide advice to service users, their families, carers and healthcare professionals who contact the service regarding mobility and associated issues. Participate and contribute as required with clinical audit, evaluation and research activities. About you: A BSc degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy Current HCPC registration Previous experience of working as an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist with patients with long-term and deteriorating medical conditions, including neuro, paediatrics, community equipment provision and manual handling expertise. Minimum two years hands on postural assessment experience Experience of undertaking holistic assessments Previous experience of working in a Wheelchair service would be desirable Experience can include rotational experience Current full UK driving licence (manual) What can we offer you?
