Overview

Our Company Beds & Bars is a leading operator of backpacker hostels and sports bar venues, operating over 22 businesses across the UK and Europe. We are an Investors in People Platinum company. Our Team We are a small West London based team responsible for the company’s digital assets including a booking platform (going live mid-march), online check-in platform, a customer feedback platform, and various websites. We also have a number of automation projects coming up. We have an Agile Scrum workflow regularly deploying new code. All our Node/PHP microservices are hosted with Kubernetes in Google Cloud Platform and run alongside a range of cloud functions. Who You Are Ideal candidates for this role will have over 5 years commercial experience with PHP and Javascript. We are on the lookout for a Full Stack Developer to join our team. You have experience with at least one front-end Javascript framework, microservices architecture, and DevOps (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes). You have experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. You are a self-starter, a problem solver, have the drive to push projects to completion both independently and as part of a team, a strong ambition to improve your skill set, and most importantly you have the desire to work with the team to build awesome user experiences for our customers. With a desire to develop yourself and the team, you will have plenty of opportunities to grow. We offer training and conference budgets and in our team you will be working closely together with people of various specialisations from design through to DevOps. Cross-training is in our culture. Key Responsibilities Working alongside our lead developer and other team members, your main responsibilities may include: Developing and maintaining microservices to build out our ever-growing API platform. Building out integrations with 3rd party systems. Maintaining and expanding on existing infrastructure for our websites, booking platform and other APIs. Writing automated tests. Supporting the team and our digital products by investigating and resolving technical issues. Building upon our existing monitoring tools so that we can get structured notifications based on regular system health checks. Participating in the problem solving process to help come up with future software and infrastructure solutions. As a candidate you would possess a subset of these skills and have a desire to learn some of the others on the list. We are always open to try out new technologies. We use Scrum and maintain our backlog and sprints in Jira. Ability to write documentation and how-to guides. We use Postman and Confluence.
