Lean Manufacturing Engineering Manager An opportunity has arisen for to undertake a key role operating as part of the senior management team as Manufacturing Engineering Manager for a highly successful manufacturing business. You will lead the Manufacturing Engineering Department, product quality and Lean / Continuous improvement teams in driving improvements in manufacturing capability through implementation of lean manufacturing techniques as well as supporting new product introductions within a low / medium volume mechanical / electro-mechanical manufacturing environment. You will also input into product quality initiatives looking at ways to lead your teams to problem solve any recurring issues and put in place robust corrective actions. The role will have high visibility, representing the company to both customers and suppliers in a technical capacity as well as playing a key role in shaping the future development of the teams both in house and also at another sister manufacturing facility. As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, key accountabilities will include: Providing technical direction and strategic leadership to a team of Production / Manufacturing Engineer's and Quality Engineers to deliver sustainable production engineering practices and identify and implement organisational improvements Playing a key role in new product development projects working closely with development and engineering on new projects Fostering an environment of Continuous Improvement. This will encompass driving value engineering, production build improvements and process development to increase efficiency, reduce waste and reduce cost of manufacture. New Product Introduction / DFM - acting as the link between development and the shop floor and ensuring all new products are designed for manufacture. Take responsibility for technology transfer of the build of products into production or to sub-contract manufacturers as appropriate To succeed in this key progressive role you will need to be an HND / degree qualified (or with relevant industry experience) Manufacturing / Production Engineer with production / Manufacturing Engineering experience within a technically complex mechanical / electromechanical environment. Proven leadership / mentoring skills and a working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and principals is required. New Product Introduction (NPI) experience and DFM expertise essential.
