Description The DXC Linux Administratorfocuses on operating and maintaining the Red Hat Linux environments of DXC customers as per the environment design and contractual agreements. The main goals are to deliver available and secure managed services within Data Centre and Cloud platforms , to continuously increase the level of automation and security, to ensure high availability of the service, and to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. The Linux Administrator is an experienced, multi-skilled professional, who can work within a small team responsible for delivering reactive and proactive operational support end-to-end in DXC-managed Database environments. The Linux Administrator is motivated to take strong ownership on actions, to find innovative ways to improve the services’ agility and efficiency, and to continuously gain more skills including the willingness to learn Cloud based Database Technologies Responsibilities · Perform a full range of ITIL service delivery skills, e.g. Incident and Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration and Release Management. · Perform Root Cause Analysis where appropriate, propose and implement long-term fixes. · Software lifecycle management – monitor product EOLs, define product roadmap, test and implement software releases. · Hardware lifecycle management - monitor product EOL, define product roadmap, raise business case for upgrades, implement replacement hardware and manage migrations alongside other supported teams affected. · Firmware and software maintenance · Coordinating/participation in service restoration and root cause analysis · Production and review of storage reports · Liaise with key stakeholders/ITO capabilities to resolve incidents · Log hardware calls with vendor for any failed infrastructure · Proactive management and maintenance of the storage infrastructure · Participation in an on call rota and out of hours work Essential Skills/Qualifications: · Excellent knowledge of Red Hat Linux Enterprise (v4 upwards),(Specifically 6 and 7) including installation, configuration and imaging · Ansible knowledge and python scripting skills · Excellent knowledge of Red Hat Network Satellite for system management and performance reporting · Provide support for L2 and L3 Operational activities & troubleshooting · Able to stabilise developed infrastructure solutions using Red Hat methodologies in complex customer environments · Demonstrate the ability to methodically work through issues, able to demonstrate excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills · Must be able to deal directly with clients in a friendly and highly confident manner demonstrating excellent internal and external customer communication skills · Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction · Author processes and working instructions · Work within challenging SLA’s and follow escalation paths to the leadership team and product specialists promptly when required · Represent the 3rd line team from a Linux perspective in customer meetings · Ability to adopt and deliver unix centric Technical Configuration Lead, Technical Change Lead, Technical Problem Lead and Technical Capacity Lead roles as requested. · Out of hours work and callout is required Desirable Skills/Qualifications: · Knowledge of Solaris Operating System · Experience of Active Directory support for Linux servers · Trained or Experienced and Certified in cloud platforms: o Microsoft Azure o Amazon Web Services (AWS) · Ability to learn and adapt to new frameworks/technologies · DevOps & Agile methodology experience, working with small agile teams, is a plus About DXC Technology DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) is the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company, helping clients harness the power of innovation to thrive on change.
