Engineering Manager

About the site Inchture is the second of our potato packing operations, based between Perth and Dundee, Scotland. There are a number of support roles on site with the majority of colleagues working within our operation About the role We are recruiting for an Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering department to support production operation at our site in Inchture. They will use their leadership qualities and expertise to execute the planning, training, supporting and managing of the engineering team. Within this role it is essential that they ensure all health and safety requirements are met, whilst also taking the initiative to identify and report appropriate machinery to be used in the factory to aid our continuous improvement agenda of profit improvement and production efficiency. The core hours for this position are Monday – Friday 40 hours per week – Due to the nature of the role and business some flexible working may be required Key Responsibilities include : Liaise and work closely with group project management team to ensure all project time-lines and costs are met in line with scope and objectives. Ensure that all planned maintenance, insurance inspections and all activities are effectively planned in, accurately reviewed for closure and systems in place to ensure that they are filed and communicated with relevant key stakeholders. Ensure that plant fabric and facilities management such as fire systems and refrigeration maintenance is carried out efficiently and compliant with internal and external requirements and legislation. Apply the concepts or Food safety, HACCP and other appropriate quality standards to maintenance activities. Ensure that repair and maintenance tasks are carried out to appropriate work procedures and engineering standards and in accordance with statutory and regulatory bodies. Develop capital and revenue budgets YOY, bids and contracts, direct and negotiate. Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to SMT and management teams. Ensure breakdowns are dealt with promptly and conclusively, ensuring a process is in place to prevent reoccurrences. Ensure engineering team receive appropriate H&S and Food Safety training. Manage and lead continuous improvement Skills and Experience: Technical qualification in engineering discipline such as Degree, HNC/HND with relevant industry experience Proven industry & leadership experience within a FMCG Environment Proven record in managing a skilled team by setting standards resource planning and coordinating work activities to meet the business needs Knowledge of HSE requirements to ensure that safe systems of work, risk assessments, pressure systems directives, statutory requirements and HSE legislation Working knowledge of PLC’s Strong IT skills, to include awareness of new technologies Ability to handle critical decision-making Strong problem solving skills and a methodical thought process Excellent communication skills Ability to be logical & analytical Organised & able to prioritise What’s in it for you: We are a rapidly growing and exciting business, dedicated to the development of our colleagues and committed to creating a great place to work.
