Overview
Our Birmingham campus, is looking for a bank of Exam Invigilators to work on an ad-hoc basis during busy examination periods. The role of Exam Invigilator consists of: Setting up and supervising examinations Ensuring guidelines and procedures are followed and all relevant administrative tasks are carried out during the examinations including recording student attendance Maintaining the security and confidentiality of examination papers We are looking for applicants who are reliable and punctual, have excellent communication skills and attention to detail. It is important that our invigilators have the ability to take command of the room and access to a personal email account as the primary method of communication to arrange invigilation will be via email. Experience of invigilating exams is preferred but not essential as training will be provided. Conditions of application - you must: Complete a face-to-face training session to a satisfactory standard Have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal Be able to relay written and oral instructions to candidates and members of staff Comply with the Health & Safety requirements that you are able to give clear verbal instructions in the event of an emergency when you may need to conduct an evacuation Be legally able to undertake part-time paid employment in the UK Have and be able to use a working e-mail account: all communications will be sent via e-mail Have basic IT skills: including using a printer, a USB memory stick and Microsoft Word Be flexible: including being prepared to invigilate computer examinations, oral examinations and examinations with special circumstances NB - this job requires a level of physical ability, as applicants are required to walk around the building and carry examination materials. Hours of work will vary throughout the year according to examination scheduling and invigilation requirements. There are no guaranteed hours and Invigilators on our 'available' list will have the option to turn down offers of work. Rates of Pay Invigilated exams - GBP 9.30 per hour pro rata plus 12.1% holiday pay Amanuensis - GBP 11.43 per hour pro rata plus 12.1% holiday pay We will also pay up to GBP 10 per day for travel / parking - reimbursed with valid receipts.
