Overview

Our client is a successful manufacturer looking to appoint a Production Shift Manager for their fast paced volume production site. Managing around 50 people on shift at any one time the successful Production Shift Manager will have previous experience of shift work and leading a team to meet daily KPI's, preferably in a time sensitive, lean focused, volume manufacturing environment (food, plastic, glass, electronics etc). This role will be covering a static shift pattern of 06:30-14:30 / 14:30-23:00 Roles and Responsibilities - Production Shift Manager Production Manager Production Shift Leader Production Supervisor Ensuring an efficient production operation which is able to fulfil operational and customer demand Overseeing the production process including planning production schedules to meet customer orders in liaison with Operations Manager, Sales and Transport, Planning and Materials Control Maintaining metrics/KPIs (OTIF, AOTIF, FPMH, RFT, Cost-to-Quality), reports, process documentation, customer service logs, training and health and safety records Strategically manage production in compliance with company policies, procedures and vision Recruit, coach, motivate and mentor Team Leaders, Cell Leaders and drive a zero-tolerance mindset for deviation from the use of quality processes to ensure customer deliverables are fully met and waste is reduced; Identify opportunities to ensure efficient space utilisation and production flow Plan future capacity requirements and constraints, building a planning and scheduling process to maintain OTIF, while managing labour costs through planning work rotas, assigning employees according to production needs, analysing results for continuous improvement Lead 2-hourly SIM meetings, ensure Team Leaders update Day-by-Hour boards regularly, and carry out inspections of production areas, ensuring smooth running and compliance with SOPs and H&S Ensure IT and automated systems are accurate and up-to-date, identify any system improvements, implement and drive continuous improvement activities change management and best practices Ensuring stocks are managed, in liaison with Stock Control Manager, using stock control systems for Material Requirements Planning to maintain adequate levels of raw materials Managing health, safety and wellbeing to the highest standards, reducing or eliminating hazards, ensuring best practice and safe systems of work are operated, high standards of housekeeping are maintained, etc. in liaison with H&S Manager; Ensure the working environment is managed to the highest standards using 5S techniques; Managing all employee relations issues in compliance with HR Policies and Procedures, including monitoring and effective management of attendance, disciplinaries, grievances, etc. in liaison with The above tasks are the key aspects of the role but, like any other role, it is not possible to specify every single task and requirement of the role and the Production Manager is required to carry out any reasonable tasks required of him/her commensurate with the level of the role.
