Overview

Financial Controller Glasgow To £48,000 Bonus Benefits An exclusive opportunity has arisen for a fully qualified accountant to join the finance team of a leading, high growth business in Glasgow in the capacity of Financial Controller. This privately owned entrepreneurial business has experienced substantial growth in the last 3 years. In response to recent business wins, and an ambitious growth plan, they are now seeking to appoint a commercially astute Financial Controller to support the existing Finance Director and take responsibility for the day to day management of the finance function. This role represents a fabulous opportunity to join a very well geared business which is enjoying a period of sustained organic growth. It is envisaged that this individual will grow in the role with a view to succession planning/promoting into a potential Finance Director post in the medium term, as the business realises it’s commercial ambitions. Working for a very dynamic, commercial and personable leader, the Financial Controller will enjoy full autonomy and responsibility for the following: • Full preparation of month end group management accounts • Leading the full budgeting and forecasting process • Staff management of a team of 5 • Managing the bank and rolling cash flow position • Acting as lead contact with external auditors and advisors/partners • Cost accounting – margin and income analysis • Variance analysis • Overseeing payroll • Managing of AP and AR functions • Reconciliations, VAT and compliance duties The successful candidate will provide a business partnering service to a number of divisional heads and so will have the opportunity to be highly visible within, and across, the business. To be considered for this post, you MUST be a fully qualified accountant – CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent, with strong management accounting experience. You will have previous post qualifying industry experience gained in a fast moving business, ideally having gained exposure to a high volume transactional environment. Prior staff management experience/exposure is highly desirable although not absolutely necessary, as the existing finance team is well placed to run and support effectively. Confidence, gravitas and highly developed interpersonal skills are important for this one and hence there may be opportunities to interact with clients. Previous ERP systems experience would be advantageous, and very strong Excel skills are essential. The role will suit someone who is commercially minded and looking to flourish and shine with minimal supervision. This may suit someone looking to progress into their first FC position, or indeed an experienced accountant seeking to reinvigorate their career by moving sideways into a fast moving, ambitious environment. Due to location on the outskirts of Glasgow, a driving licence and your own vehicle are essential for this role.
