Role Overview An opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Planning Manager to be based at our Distribution Centre in Wellingborough. This challenging and exciting role will appeal to an individual with experience, vision, determination and enthusiasm. The role is to plan effective resource for all Operational activity, ensuring that all shifts are working with the same metrics and towards the same overall goal. Who are we? To work alongside Shift Managers when generating each shifts operational plan, ensuring optimal deployment Plan and forecast upcoming volume in line with the resource each shift has available, taking into account spikes in volume and holiday allocation To schedule and manage holiday allocation within warehouse ensuring efficient deployment of resources Working with cross functional groups, be aware and plan in any project activity without compromising the main operation To be accountable for maintaining and complying with Health, Safety and Environmental standards thereby minimising the risk to themselves and others . To monitor and manage individual and team performance, through the application of company policies, procedures and people management processes (i.e. Absence, performance, conduct etc.) To be a useful resource for any Operational CI initiatives and report weekly on actual figures Working with warehouse team to review layout and make improvements to the layout to ensure optimal at all times To deliver accurate and timely performance reports Maintain and further develop a high level of teamwork and morale within the department Proactively encourage positive and constructive relationships on site with the union and union representatives Ensure any disciplinary action is carried out following company procedure, and documented accordingly in a timely manner. In addition maintain confidentiality To assist in developing a culture of continuous improvement to drive best-in-class activity and operational excellence, in line with PCDR objectives To monitor daily missing and damaged reports, looking for trends and introducing improvements, working alongside Shift Managers. What will you bring? Proven management experience of working in a dynamic, complex and high volume warehouse operations preferably Home Delivery environment Successful delivery of operational and service performance in line with Health and Safety excellence and KPIs Experience of people leadership include direct management and development of an operational management team Evidence of continuous improvement in operational performance (inc. Health and Safety) and driving site culture and the engagement of colleagues Experience of management within a unionised environment Knowledge of employment and safety/environment legislation and the processes which underpin these frameworks Previous experience of assisting in leading project/change initiatives Their commercial understanding and cost control management of warehouse operations Excellent customer relationship skills with the ability to communicate effectively to key groups and stake holders Will have the flexibility to work shifts as and when required including regular weekends and support to other shifts as and when required, including nightshift. Excellent PC skills including Excel, Word and Power Point and with knowledge of warehouse management systems Ability to work on your own initiative, working to strict deadlines Knowledge of KPI’s with understanding of financial management / performance of the warehousing.
