Job Description Senior Platform Engineer, Devops Engineer – Linux AWS - Leeds Our Central Leeds based client are on the hunt for an accomplished Senior Platform Engineer from a Linux background ideally with experience of large scale AWS migrations to cope with a number of recent project wins. This is a unique opportunity to join an ever expanding, multi award winning outfit recognised industry wide as leaders in their field. They offer the opportunity to work a varied project portfolio on behalf of a who’s who of household names across a number of different industry sectors making use of all the latest tech. The must have tech stuff: Excellent Linux/Unix system administration skills Strong commercial experience of managing complex multi-tier enterprise infrastructure environments In-depth configuration management, automation and scripting skills including use of a scripting language such as Python or Ruby, proficiency with shell scripting (e.g. BASH) In-depth knowledge of platform and application automated deployment technologies (e.g. Cobbler, Puppet, Chef, Tivoli Provisioning Manager, Foreman) Exposure to iterative/agile development methodologies (SCRUM, XP, DSDM, RUP etc.) Exposure to continuous integration and build tools Use of source code version control Understanding of software and infrastructure architecture Good database knowledge and SQL skills (MySQL and PostgreSQL skills would be useful) The “nice to haves”… In addition to the essential skills listed above, experience of one or more of the following competencies is desirable: Configuration of firewalls, load balancers and other network equipment Software development experience Experience of application servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic or JBOSS Experience of Microsoft .NET technologies and Windows system administration Exposure to or knowledge of web security, e.g. OWASP Exposure to ITIL In depth knowledge of virtualisation platforms and cloud orchestration technologies such as VSphere, vDirector, Xenserver, Xen, Cloudstack and Openstack And the role itself: The successful Platform Engineer works primarily within a project team with the following responsibilities: Project Delivery: the day-to-day responsibility for technical aspects of a project, both internally and at client sites Managing, supporting, maintaining and improving the project’s infrastructure, automation, continuous integration system and application release process Acting as a bridge between operations and development teams A full job description is available to candidates meeting the above minimum criteria, please apply in the first instance with your latest CV outlining your salary expectations & availability for an immediate response.
