Title: Full time Waking Night Carer / Support Worker Location: Highbury, N5 Nearest Tube Station: Highbury and Islington Wage: £15.00 gross per hour Driver required? Not Required Essential: Supporting children or young people with learning Desirable: Experience working with children/young people with Epilepsy and autism Start Date: ASAP Days & Hours: 4 shifts per week available covering waking nights, 10.00pm - 7.30am. Additional day time hours available by mutual agreement Family/Client Pets: Small dog About this client/child: Noah, (12), is a happy and affectionate boy who loves nursery rhymes, swimming, going on the trips, playing in the park and having hugs with his younger sister, 8. Noah is autistic and has Dravet syndrome which presents with seizures and developmental delay, causing difficulties with speech and motor skills. All his medications are administered via a PEG. Noah attends a specialist school. He can walk unaided for short distances, however for longer journeys, uses wheelchair. Overview of role: Your role as waking night support worker / carer will be to monitor Noah throughout the night for seizures and wakefulness. Noah is awake a lot during the night, so he will require gentle comforting to help him get back to sleep. Who this job would suit This job will suit someone who has worked within a small home team set up and who is adaptable to working both nights and days.
