Overview

Head of Risk ABF UK At a glance ABF provides Leasing and Commercial Finance/Asset Based Lending solutions to customers in all segments: SME, corporates and large corporates including international clients. In the Netherlands this is mainly to ABN AMRO clients, in other countries this is mainly to non ABN AMRO clients. In the smaller end of the segments, the focus in on having a digital offering, with standardised and harmonised products and processes. In the larger segments, the focus is on a coverage model, with a modular product offering that allows for bespoke solutions. The Risk department consists of Credit risk, Asset Valuation & Asset Audit, Financial Restructuring & Recovery (FR&R), Legal and Operational Risk management. The department ensures adherence to the moderate risk framework of the bank and operates on a Risk Based approach basis. The Credit Risk team is responsible for all analyses and underwriting of proposals, within the approval framework of ABF. The focus of the team is to balance credit risk and asset risk in all Asset Based lending transactions. The FR&R team is involved in early stages to focus on continuity in a default scenario. The Asset Valuation and Asset Audit team is responsible for pro-active management of the asset risks in the portfolio. Your job The Head of Risk is responsible for managing the local UK risk departments and to safeguard alignment with the Subsidiary Risk Type Owners in ABF for the different risk types on policies, processes and procedures. The Head of Risk translates the ABF Risk plan into specific department objectives and monitors these. The job holder drives a Risk Based Approach and ensures the Risk team acts as a sparring partner to the businesses. In that role, the job holder ensures that the Risk team has an independent view and acts accordingly. Jobholder ensures internal SLA’s are met and cooperation with ABF and ABN in UK and NL is strong. Job Holder is the first point of contact for the Country Risk Officer of ABN AMRO BANK N.V. and is a member of the MT Risk of ABF. Knowledge and Experience / Skills Academic degree in Finance, Economics or a related discipline would be preferable Proven experience in the financial industry (preferably Asset Based Lending) of which several years in managerial role is essential In depth knowledge of financial, risk and process management In depth knowledge of compliance topics and processes Global view on developments in the financial industry and the ability to relate this to the ABF activities of ABN AMRO Ability to effectively communicate internally to provide strategic advice to management and the MT, leading a team that operates internationally and managing cultural differences. Building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with various stakeholders Writing proficiency for drawing up strategic recommendations and annual plans Credibility and gravitas to represent ABF in a professional way to internal and external stakeholders Communication and key stakeholders Internal contact: CRO ABF NL and Managing Director ABF UK - report on performance, team developments and alert on any matters that could impact ABF business. Member of Management Team Risk (Regular) Commercial Directors ABF UK - cooperate to ensure adherence to moderate risk profile and to increase market knowledge in the Risk Management team and Management team BF UK (Regular) Director of Business Services - on operational matters in the execution of the ABF and Risk plans (Regular) Country Chief Risk Officer and UK Risk Committee - update on Risk management ABF UK (Regular) External contact: Clients - act as Executive involved for specific clients (Ad hoc) UK Governance Committee Memberships Member of the Risk Management Team and of the Management Team of ABF UK.
