JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a SEMH / SEN Primary School Teacher who has experience ideally in both alternative education and mainstream school settings, working with ASD and SEN children. The organisation’s provision is for those who have had limited success in formal education, or who have struggled in specialist settings. Their teachers and support workers are specialist trained to work in developing the child. Their holistic approach boosts confidence, self-esteem and helps young people to develop skills to be a successful learner. A therapeutic informed approach is used to recognise and reduce barriers to learning and create a personalised curriculum. They are looking for a SEMH / SEN Primary School Teacher to join a friendly team at their provision in Greater Manchester. In this role you would be expected to ensure all children and young people within their care are secure and receiving the best possible educational provision and outcomes. Working alongside the Headteacher you will demonstrate a clear understanding of the challenges of delivering consistent, quality learning opportunities to students with higher and complex needs. As the SEMH / SEN Primary School Teacher you will hold QTS as well as being able to evidence considerable experience in the following: • Working with children with Social, Emotional, Behavioural and additional needs • Researching, planning, preparing and delivering outstanding lessons • Developing and delivering flexible and purposeful, individualised curriculums • Line management of Learning Support staff • Robust baseline, assessing and tracking of both traditional and non-traditional curriculums and learning programmes • Working with internal colleagues, critical friends, parents and clinicians as well as the network of external colleagues in Local Authority SEN teams • High levels of self-reflection, motivation to improve own practice and a solution focussed, positive approach to operational challenges As the SEMH / SEN Primary School Teacher, you will have experience of working with ASD and SEN children, organising and running events/camps/play schemes for large groups of children from pre-school to adults. You will work in community settings where we will require you to create positive and engaging learning environments, there may be need to support in their local Hub Schools, depending on pupil demands to the service. If you are successful you will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS Disclosure check prior to employment and then on a 3-yearly update.
