Senior Physicist Permanent London NW1 Medacs Healthcare are looking at for a senior Physicist for a permanent role based in HCA Healthcare. HCA healthcare UK is a leading private hospital group offering comprehensive healthcare in the UK, especially so in London. Two of the facilities that are run in partnership with the local NHS hospitals offer radiotherapy service in central London. The department has 3 Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, a dedicated radiotherapy planning CT scanner and Eclipse treatment planning system. Most treatments are delivered using VMAT and techniques such as SABR, gating, auto beam hold and DIBH are currently offered clinically. The third TrueBeam was installed recently to support the continued growth of the service. Moreover, the TBI treatments will commence from mid 2020. This expansion has created a vacancy for a senior radiotherapy physicist who will contribute to all medical physics activities in the department. There are also several service developments projects that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on. Although HCPC registration has been stated as mandatory, candidate without HCPC registration will also be considered provided that they have a significant experience in radiotherapy physics. Job Description The Senior Physicist is contributes to the day to day operation of all aspects of medical physics activities at their site This is a permanent full time role working 37.5hrs per week. Duties & Responsibilities To contribute to all aspects of Radiotherapy Physics operation at employment site as well as other nearby sites To commission new equipment including new linacs and QA equipment under the supervision of the lead physicist. In collaboration with the lead physicist, to accurately calibrate radiotherapy equipment including the linacs and ionisation chambers. To be responsible for maximising up time of the linacs by carefully arranging for maintenance and calibrations. To provide scientific support for the clinical oncologists, radiographers, dosimetrists and the rest of the medical physics team. To participate in the routine tasks within the department including QA, treatment planning and checking, duty cover etc. To take appropriate action where QA results lie outside of tolerance levels. To, in conjunction with the research and development physicist, propose, lead and participate in research and development projects To write comprehensive commissioning reports and work instructions for new procedures, equipment and techniques.
