We need enthusiastic individuals to join our team of multi-talented, experienced Database Administrators working together to resolve database problems and incidents, to make sure our clients’ get the return they need on their technology investments. This role will be aligned with the defence, security and intelligence sector; so successful applicants much be able to gain UK security clearance ( https://www.gov.uk/guidance/security-vetting-and-clearance ). The Role: Monitor database activity and file usage, and ensures necessary resources are present. Determines data to collect and analyses information as appropriate. Investigates and resolves technical database issues of significance. Optimises database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes. Plans and installs upgrades of database management systems software as necessary to enhance database performance. Designs and tests database installation, implementation, and recovery scenarios. Your skills & experience: We are looking for people with experience in installation, upgrade, configuration, and support of the following; Must have at least 5 years of Database Administration experience across the following technologies (Oracle, SQL Server) Install and configure database binaries Backup/recovery procedures and scripting High availability Disaster Recovery Write and maintain scripts to automate DBA tasks – Bash/SQL/JSON Ensure data security Perform routine, periodic and proactive operation and monitoring This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89807745
