The Cellular Pathology department at Calderdale Royal Hospital is seeking to recruit a specialist biomedical scientist to join our friendly team. The department is UKAS accredited and IBMS approved for training. Cellular pathology covers histology, non-gynae cytology, andrology and the mortuaries The successful candidate will be involved in health and safety, training and quality in all areas of the department. We currently process approximately 28000 histology samples, around 9000 immunohistochemistry tests using the Ventana Benchmark Ultra, 2500 non-gynae samples, and 3000 andrology samples. We are committed to quality and improvement, use LEAN methods of working and utilise the Vantage tracking system. We are currently expanding the andrology service and introducing digital pathology to the department. The successful applicant will have the IBMS Specialist postgraduate portfolio in cellular pathology and hold current HCPC registration. Consideration may be given to suitably qualified band 5 staff who have almost completed their specialist portfolio. Informal visits are encouraged.
