Great 6-month opportunity for a Procurement Specialist - Directs (Raw Materials) to work in Procurement for a leading nutrition manufacturer part of a blue-chip group… This is a 6-month fixed term contract role paying circa £30k… The Procurement Specialist position: As one of two Category Managers in the team, this role will take ownership for approximately 8 different categories encompassing packaging and raw materials, with an estimated spend of £3m across 250 skus This will be developing and owning the strategy for these categories. Whilst also supporting innovation, continuous improvement plans, cost out/value add initiatives and the supplier assurance program Take complete ownership for categories, adopting category management process Tender categories - where appropriate and to meet the business needs Identify potential opportunities, fully scope and run the value re-engineering projects Deliver accurate and timely information regarding pricing, changes of supplier or negotiated contracts to support planning and scheduling team Champion the use of the procurement toolkit and e-Sourcing tools to help deliver value Support the business’ growth agenda by leveraging supplier relationships to showcase product concepts/ideas, supporting the NPD calendar Work closely with Technical to ensure that all products meet our requirements for food safety, legality and quality via the supplier assurance programme Deal with any supplier complaints working with the Technical team – via the non-conformance process. Pushing suppliers for updates and compensation where appropriate Ability to work autonomously and on own initiative or happy to work as part as a cross functional team The team: The Procurement team is newly formed and striving to achieve best practise, leveraging potential synergies across the wider group. The Procurement team need to ensure they are sourcing the right products from the right suppliers at the optimal cost. They are also responsible for the cost out/value add saving plan. This involves identifying opportunities, scoping out and delivering savings. Candidate Profile: Positive Individual with high energy levels – no two days are the same in this fast paced, dynamic business. Need to be able to work at pace whilst being adaptable to meet the business needs Team player – as part of a small, fast paced business – no task is out of reach – willingness to get involved and get the job done Appetite to learn and challenge – the desire to learn about the business and categories in depth but also challenge – adding value and striving to improve Sees the bigger picture – understands best practise Procurement and how important end to end Supply Chain is Critical Competencies/Skills: Analytical – computer literate and numerate. Proficient when using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Influencing and negotiating – strong communication skills written and verbal.
