Now is your chance… This role reports directly into our Commercial Director for Commercial Real Estate with responsibility for the performance of the South Region within the UK. You will be expected to build a strong Regional Franchises for Aldermore Bank's Commercial Real Estate business, by sourcing and progressing quality Commercial Mortgages loan applications through to completion and active management of the region to perform in line with risk tolerances. As Head of Commercial Mortgages you will be expected to maintain, developand implement direct and intermediary lending strategy for the current commercial mortgage product suite and for all new offerings bought within the realm of commercial mortgages now and in the future - at all times ensuring that risk, processes, operations and sales activities coalesce to achieve the product line commercial objectives. The role holder will also play a significant part in managing panels (broker and legal) and oversee larger customer relationships in the designated region. The role holder will also be responsible for the management and development of senior lending manager direct reports and have ultimate responsibility for the performance of the region in terms and volume, mix and spread achieved from origination. The role holder will have a key role within the senior leadership function of commercial real estate with this stretching beyond commercial originations to assisting in decision making to ensure the sound running of the commercial real estate business. What would your day look like? Complete extensive due diligence on commercial mortgage applications adopting a host of credit assessment skills to recommend the basis on which risk is taken. You will be expected to source/negotiate and transact to completion larger more complex loans. This must be done in a risk considered manner, maximizing marginal returns and demonstrating a high level of ability to structure and negotiate transactions. Develop and maintain an outstanding sales team who will cohesively work to achieve set individual and team targets in a variety of areas not limited to net lending, origination, fees and return and to contribute towards the overall performance of the Commercial Mortgage business, whilst minimising the risk of losses. Ensure that market, sector and Regulatory knowledge is continuously developed and maintained To carry out adhoc duties as requested by Commercial Director. Ensure all documentation and processes are fit for purpose and enable approval of change of FCA permissions. Identify business issues and take ownership for resolution Key responsibility for building a sustainable platform to include a robust and perform broker and legal panel suited to a growing business. Ongoing system overview ensuring system prioritisation at senior level is fair and representative of the business requirements (accepting there is not unlimited resource and in full knowledge of system restraints) Key involvement in development of tactical and strategic system delivery Ultimate responsibility for all new products to be delivered to the commercial mortgages division ensuring change is operationalized efficiently. Key responsibility for conduct risk and ensuring risk events are both actioned as quickly as possible but any lessons are trained out to ensure ever growing knowledge base of wider team. Ensuring team process is robust to ensure regulatory requirements are met and understood. What do we expect of you? Significant senior management experience within a regulatory environment, to ensure that all activities and outcomes are founded on the principles of delivering good customer outcomes, and the team performs in the appropriate way in the pursuit of delivery Demonstrable experience of operating within FCA regulated T&C Schemes to enable best practice and compliant business processes Detailed knowledge of developing and implementing regulated sales processes, such that all such processes are well understood by colleagues, delivered effectively and meet the needs of our customers Exceptional ability to lead and motivate lending sales teams; demonstrable experience of leadership and management techniques that enable strong performance amongst teams, and drive engagement and enthusiasm for the Bank and its products Superior relationship building skills, applied to the development of strong cross-Divisional and cross-Bank stakeholder relationships Demonstrable experience of working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining personal motivation, drive and successful performance and encouraging the same in others Experience within the Commercial Mortgage sector, to include presentation of Mortgage Applications to Board level. A detailed understanding of banking credit processes, legal requirements, property valuation issues, legal facility offer letters and banking processes to achieve loan drawdown in a timely manner.
