Overview

My client is looking for a Defendant Personal Injury Claims Handler with 2 years experience to join a busy team at the new modern Bradford City Centre office. This is a hands-on fee earning role conducting the defence of EL/PL claims up to but not including litigation. Excellent communication, organisation and IT skills including use of the MOJ EL/PL Portal are essential. Experience of defending retail claims is highly desirable. Salary £20-£21K although there is a degree of flex on this dependent on experience. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the advice and guidance of your Supervisor: - Conduct defence of EL/PL claims for Personal Injury from the beginning of the claim up to but not including litigation - preferably with a retail focus. - Ability to use the MOJ EL/PL Portal. - Deal with opponents, experts, statutory bodies and client by e-mail, telephone and in writing. - Negotiate on issues of liability and quantum. - Pursue recovery of client's losses, where appropriate, from third parties - Maintain accurate financial / reserve / risk management information on all claims - Comply with internal, client and procedural protocols - Ensure that personal objectives are reviewed and met. - Develop a good relationship with existing and potential clients ensuring that a high standard of client care in exercised at all times. - Provide good customer service to litigants in person. - Ensure that relevant training is carried out and keep up to date with relevant legislation and practice. - Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with SRA/Law Society Regulations. - Take an active part, with the Department Head and Fee Earners from other departments in marketing initiatives benefiting both their own department and other departments of the Firm. - Carry out duties and responsibilities with due regard to the firm's Equality & Diversity Policy.
