NetPay has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join their team based in Hedge End . You will join us on a full time permanent basis and will receive a highly competitive salary of up to £50,000 per annum. The Senior Linux Systems Engineer role We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, motivated individual to take an active role in building and maintaining the Linux infrastructure that supports the NetPay service proposition. Your primary focus will be our Linux based infrastructure and you will have considerable experience in designing, building and maintaining Linux systems within a highly secure environment. You should have extensive experience working within a stringent change control and documentation framework to ensure security and configuration management policies are adhered to at all times. You will be experienced in supporting, maintaining and configuring infrastructure as and when required. These areas may include network security, routing, switching, hyper-visor and other common infrastructure platforms. Responsibilities of the Senior Linux Systems Engineer: - Assist in the proactive and reactive management and maintenance of multi-layered, multi-tenant deployment environments. - Have experience of building, operating and managing systems that operate in a highly secure environment. - Experience working with PCI DSS compliant networks and systems would be highly advantageous. - Keep up to date on PCI DSS and other regulatory requirements pertinent to the operation of the business. - Documentation and evidence collecting and a structured approach to working on systems. - Necessity to on occasion work unsociable hours when maintaining systems, deploying new servers or responding to any issues that occur out of hours. - Participate in an on-call rota providing 24x7 support. - Contribute to weekly team meetings to discuss progress with other team members. - Assist in the design and build highly available multi-platform systems. - Experience in virtual environment build automation configuration and administration. - Service monitoring and administration essential. - Actively maintain and innovate system security and in line with the organisation’s security policy. - Be ambitious and possess a positive drive towards proactive self-development. As a Senior Linux Systems Engineer you will need the following Skills and Experience: - Strong multi-vendor Linux skills and experience essential (CentOS, Ubuntu). - Demonstrable understanding of IP Sub-netting configuration, routing and DNS. - Good working knowledge of GIT and/or other version control systems. - Qualifications such as RHCSA/RHSCE/LFCS/SCA or relevant experience highly desirable. - Experience using hyper-visors platforms (Linux KVM, VMWare). - Experience with Linux based containerisation (LXC, LXD) - Installation and configuration of standard services including http/s, mail, DNS, load balancers and database servers. - Ability to debug database performance issues (MySQL/MariaDB, MongoDB) - Good working knowledge of Ansible - Ability to write scripts to perform common tasks in languages such as Bash, Python, Pearl. - Working knowledge of PHP scripting desirable. - Production of clear and concise documentation including network diagrams, configuration documentation and change controls. - Experience of monitoring & log auditing.
