Overview
Im working with an accountancy practice who are offering something a little different. Firstly, their offices are definitely the most impressive of any in the City. I would defy anyone not to be impressed by the grandiose building, beautiful grounds and a somewhat majestic entrance to the work place. It is a genuinely excellent environment; convenient to the City Centre yet free from traffic, noise and pollution. Why is this practice different? Mainly, the culture. The team is comprised of the owner, one other senior member of staff and currently, two trainees. They are about as far from 'traditional’ as accountants can get; preferring music and general hubbub between them instead of the sombre sound of tapping on a keyboard. The firm has a relatively small portfolio but it is loaded with interest and keeps the whole practice more than busy. Hence, that’s why they need you to get on-board and play an integral part. What will you be doing This role is no good for someone who just wants to come in and bang out accounts, quietly in the corner. You must be willing and able to get seriously engaged with clients, providing not just the statutory but also management accounts. You will be actively encouraged to visit your clients, work on their premises (All local) and give them context behind the numbers and advice. You will be their trusted partner… General duties include but are not limited to: Preparing Management and Statutory accounts for a wide range of organisations Supervising Junior Accountants VAT returns Preparing corporation and personal tax returns Leading meetings and engaging with clients directly Business development The owner is admittedly not precious about his business. As it grows, he sees no problem in offering not just progression but potentially part of the business.
