Youth Worker - Secondary school within Tameside Your new school We are looking for individuals with Youth Work experience to work as Teaching Assistants within a Secondary school, whose main responsibility would be to mentor behaviour and support emotional well-being. The Tameside based secondary school provides an excellent quality of learning to all its pupils, as well as being inclusive and welcoming to all. The staff are a friendly and supportive group, with a desire to help everyone succeed. Your new role You will be working in a secondary school, with ages 11-16. Due to the nature of some of the students having social, emotional and mental health needs, which can include depression, anxiety, anger and associated learning difficulties such as ADHD and Dyslexia, you can expect some challenging behaviour and situations to arise. You must have a calm and understanding personality to help manage these types of situations and be resilient to cope with them. Experience with working with vulnerable people and knowledge with mental health is ideal within this role. What you'll need to succeed A passion for helping children to achieve their full potential is essential. In addition, previous experience of working with children ages 11-16 in an education or childcare environment is essential you will need a minimum of 2 months' work within the past 2 years. All candidates will either need to hold a current and valid DBS certificate registered with the update service or be willing to make an application for a new enhanced disclosure.
