JOB: Lead CMM Engineer Sector: Volume Manufacturing Location: Halewood Shift: Days Salary: Circa £38,000 Our client is a Multi-National high volume manufacturer of components and assemblies supplying some of the leading Automotive OEM’s on a JIT basis. As a result of career progression and an expanding order book they require a Lead CMM Engineer to join the existing team. Lead CMM Engineer Responsibilities: •The organisation and co-ordination of the laboratory and personnel, liaison between departments and implementing programmes of testing. •To proactively support the quality, manufacturing and product engineering and development functions in terms of conductance of test and validation work and the reporting of the results. •For ensuring that any customer specific requirements are adhered to including annual layout inspection testing and legislative needs. •Control and maintain calibration system, ensuring equipment and gauges defined in the control plan and used to facilitate the laboratory function, are calibrated within the defined frequency. •Support wider team in drawing, DVA, and other dimensional meetings when needed •Analyse data prior to holding and attending dimensional meetings •Lead and develop the gauge stowage and maintenance Lead CMM Engineer Accountabilities: •Annual product audit testing by material type as defined in production control plans. •Generating and maintaining the Laboratory audit & test schedule •The comprehension of and the ability to test in accordance with printed technical specifications and methods to satisfy plant and customer requirements. •Adherence and promotion of company quality / business systems •Liaison with relevant project teams and ensure any dimensional and performance testing is carried out accordingly. •Compose CMM programs using PCDMIS software from CAD data •Develop and improve CMM Inspection methods •Identify tooling and fixture requirements for CMM Inspection. •Support New Product Introduction (NPI) •Participate in Design for Manufacture (DFM) •First off/process measurement work to be managed Lead CMM Engineer Experience: •Suitable level of education in a technical discipline and / or at least 5 years relevant industry experience ideally within the Automotive industry •A proven track record working as an CMM Engineer, CMM Programmer, Metrology Engineer or Technician working within a precision engineering / manufacturing environment. •Experience of programming CMM (PCDMIS, Polyworks, Calypso, Cosmos or similar) •Good understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings •Sound understanding of Quality, Business and OEM systems/standards, e.g. TS16949 / Q1 •Proven leadership and management skills within a challenging environment •Good knowledge of structured problem-solving tools and methodologies •Excellent communicator, both written and verbal at all levels •Excellent presentation skills •Excellent motivator, self-starting, with an enthusiastic approach This is an ideal opportunity for an established CMM Engineer to take the next step in your carrier with a Multi-National organisation.
