Our opportunity: Fair Ways home in Bournemouth has the capacity to place two young people between 7 and 14 and the focus is to provide an enriching and positive environment and to ensure we prepare the children in our care to move onto safe and nurturing foster care placements which will be achieved through early intervention. What will I be doing? Working as a Children's Residential Senior Support Worker, you will report to an experienced management team whilst mentoring and educating children and young people who can display challenging behaviour. You could be involved in any or all of the following: Supervising and interacting with the children and young people and managing complex behaviour; Key working (positive role modelling and guiding); Recording and reporting appropriately using the correct systems to escalate safeguarding concerns. Planning the week ahead with the team, being a reflective practitioner ensuring a therapeutic community throughout the home and staff team alike. Attending training and meetings, including interaction with the wider team. Cleaning, cooking, maintaining the home Being involved in lots of exciting adventures and activities such as camping, swimming, climbing, arts and crafts and much much more What skills do I need to have: Clear ability to show direction in the absence of a manager Good people management skills Strong Risk assessment skills allowing continued high levels of safeguarding to be maintained Similar Team Leader experience within a past position preferred To complete additional leadership tasks as requested by your manager Person Specification: That you are passionate about working with children and keeping them safe, That you have an understanding on some therapeutic approaches and can make a house feel like a home. You should be methodical, reliable, proactive, possess good communication skills That you are able to work as part of a team and have a positive attitude. The role will require working to a shift pattern including some weekends, evenings and approx. 2 x sleep in’s per week. There is a shift uplift paid on top of the basic salary for evening, sleep in and weekend work and this will be detailed to you at interview. Part Time hours could be offered depending on candidate requirements and the needs of the business The ability to work these as required within the shift pattern is essential.
