Overview

Our purchasing team in Royston had a position for a Buyer, to help us source materials and components for manufacture of equipment. The Buying skill-pool is recognised as being very important within our organisation as it is critical to the efficient and effective execution of manufacturing onsite. Buyers work hand in hand with Manufacturing Engineers, Production Planners and Production Cell teams to plan and delivery production. They are the key interface between Vendors and Supply Chain Planners / Manufacturing Cells. The team is keen to support progression of skill development and career enhancement. The role is part of a cohesive supply chain execution team. We would particularly value candidates with the capability to perform across supply chain functions (particularly supply chain planning). You will be based at our site in Royston. About the position: Performing operational buying activities for specific products Actively working with vendors and managing vendor performance Agreeing pricing within the framework of global sourcing agreements Maintaining purchasing master and data in order to improve planning and engineering processes Provisioning materials for subcontracting Liaising with internal customers (production, planning, manufacturing, project management) Anticipating production issues, assessing risks and working with suppliers as appropriate Managing inventory About you: Experience in a similar role in a manufacturing setting or possessing a degree in a relevant discipline with a desire to start a career in supply chain Ideally CILT qualified Understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes Knowledge of ERP system (ideally SAP) Strong numerical skills and ability to analyse data Strong communication and negotiation skills Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment In order to commence working with us, the successful candidate will need the right to work in the UK.
