The maintenance of the Royal Navy’s operational ships and submarines is fundamental to its ability to assure the continuous defence of our nation and its interests. On this programme you will learn how the Facilities Engineering design team directly support the maintenance of these critical assets. You will develop your understanding of the design process through involvement in the design of facilities and equipment used in the maintenance of the Navy’s assets. Where you can join us Places on our Design Engineering programme for Autumn 2020 are available in our Marine sector. But no matter which team you join, you could be based anywhere in the UK. That’s why we ask all our graduates to be flexible and willing to move during their programme. What you'll be doing You will be working alongside experienced design engineers, using state-of-the-art CAD tools, to produce drawings and specifications for new or modified platform maintenance facilities and equipment. You will produce engineering calculations to substantiate your designs and technical documents to communicate their details to the supply chain and manufacturing teams. You will have the opportunity to use the Facilities Engineering VR suite and smart screens to support the visualisation, communication and presentation of your designs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that will include Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering specialists. Your work will support the safe, continued operation of our facilities and hence the Royal Navy’s ships and submarines. What you'll get out of it When you’re playing such an important role, you need great support to develop. And that’s what you’re going to get. You’ll be assigned a mentor who’ll help you achieve professional status. And you’ll be starting on a competitive salary of £29k - £31k.
