Overview
THE COMPANY: Brewster Partners are working with a Doncaster based client who are looking to recruit an Environmental & Sustainability Manager. THE JOB: In conjunction with the Divisional HSE Manager, the individual will be responsible for, but not limited too; Manage the Environment Management System to ISO 14001 across two sites in Doncaster; Continuously strive to improve Environmental Culture & Behaviour; Ability to implement change throughout a busy Manufacturing business; Work closely with Management to implement Environmental initiatives, policies and procedures; Improve Employee Engagement in recycling / waste management. Your duties will include: Ensure implementation of Group and Building Products Environmental Policies and Procedures including Operation Clean Sweep. Liaise with relevant bodies i.e. Environment Agency, Local Authority, Insurance representatives. Maintain ongoing awareness of Environmental Legislation, Industry initiatives and Environmental sustainability best practices. Maintain accreditation to ISO 14001 Environmental Standard. Set and monitor environmental goals and objectives including presentation of KPI's to Senior Management. Provide guidance and support across all levels of the business to maintain a consistent approach to Environmental Management and best practice. Work closely with the Quality department to ensure Life cycle elements are consider during the development stage of new products and existing products. Lead auditor in Environmental Management, maintaining records in accordance with the business audit process. Undertake regular site visits to ensure Environmental standards are being maintained and ensure ownership is in place and being driven by management. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and goals in a dynamic environment. Assist with the management of the business waste streams. Support projects to ensure Environmental issues are considered from an early stage. Identify Environmental training, competency and awareness requirements supporting the L&D department in tracking competence. Ensure Environmental issues are discussed at departmental and divisional meetings through attending regular meetings as required by the business. Assist department managers with Environmental incident investigations ensuring incident data and supporting documentation is logged onto the reporting system. Raise Environmental and Sustainability awareness across Building Products, working closely with the Divisional Maintenance, Energy and Site Services Manager around energy and water consumption. Work closely with the Occupational health department supporting any recommendations made via the Occupational nurse in relation to environmental issues such of dust, noise etc. THE CANDIDATE: To be considered for this vacancy you must have the following knowledge & skills: Minimum three years working knowledge of ISO 9001 systems auditing essential. Working knowledge of CE Marking, Q-Mark and BWF Certifier schemes a distinct advantage. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. High level of professionalism and integrity. Team player and able to build and maintain relationships, both internal and external. Dedicated, hardworking, having the ability to work on own initiative and within a team environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Powerpoint). Excellent organisational and analytical skills. Knowledge of ISO 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 may be helpful but not essential.
