Support Workers - Complex Behaviour Needs Do you have experience supporting individuals who display behaviour, which at times can be challenging and aggressive? Mencap are currently recruiting for people who have experience within this area of support - understanding what makes them unique and working to make a real difference to their social and emotional development. We are looking for people who have a good sense of humour and are unfazed by the challenges that may arise, as this is what you are passionate about Ideal candidate will have experience with Speech, language and communications needs. Dealing with challenging behaviour out in the community. Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support. Positive Behaviour Support training If you are ready for your next challenge then Mencap want to hear from you Today The individual you will be supporting The gentleman that you would be supporting is very social with a good sense of humour and a love for animals. He likes trips out and about in the community and his favourite activity is Horse riding. He likes routine to help with his at times challenge behaviour and he needs support accessing all medical appointment and taking medication for his Epilepsy. The person you would be supporting also enjoys cooking and his all-time favourite meal is fish and chips Want to know more about the day to day life of a support worker? As a Support worker supporting individuals with challenging behaviour you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of care that will enormously contribute to the people we support, living a more comfortable, dignified, independent and happy life. This will include: Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Administering medications, helping out with house work, organizing appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals. Excellent communication skills - an ability to be able to adapt your manner in how you speak to make the information understood by all of the people that you will be supporting. The people you will be caring for all have different hobbies and interests and the right person for this role will hopefully enjoy trying new things and going out into the community… whether it be a morning down at the local ponds, fishing, a shopping trip into town, or a mini break away for a few days… no two days are the same Working hours The general shift patterns include but not limited to 7:00am – 2pm, 2pm – 10.00pm and waking night shifts are from 10:00pm – 7:00am. Please note these shift patterns may differ slightly throughout the services, nevertheless this would always be communicated in a timely manner.
